Azelis UK has made a significant new appointment. In April Barry Pomeroy will join the pan-European distribution group, Azelis operating from their UK company, Chance & Hunt Ltd, as European Business Manager - Ceramics, Refractories & Abrasives.Prior to joining Azelis, Barry has successfully developed the chrome chemicals (chrome oxide, potassium dichromate, sodium dichromate, chromic acid etc.) business for Elementis over the past 14 years and has a wealth of knowledge and experience that is highly valued by customers throughout Europe. His new role will enable him to develop the business through the local Azelis Group offices and help support Elementis in the development of its oxide business in their key market sectors. In addition, through the Azelis Group’s global sourcing ability, he will be able to offer users of these key raw materials across the whole of Europe’s ceramics, refractory and pigments markets, continuity of supply of high quality, competitively priced products. This will help manage issues that customers may face arising from future changes in the European supply/demand balance.Azelis views the application areas for these and associated products as significant growth opportunities. Peter Fields, COO Azelis said, “Barry has an impressive track record in business development and we shall be leveraging his knowledge and relationships throughout Europe to expand our business in these new growth sectors. The creation of this new role has been driven by changing market conditions and our existing strong relationship with Elementis. We are delighted to be the beneficiaries of Barry’s considerable knowledge and drive and, through his appointment, will be able to expand our portfolio of products into the ceramics, refractory and abrasives sectors. In addition, where appropriate, we will provide a continuity of support for Elementis and their established customer base.“Barry’s appointment is particularly significant for Azelis in that it is the first time we have appointed an individual with a remit to work across the whole of the group rather than focus on one country. It is a clear indication of our transition from growth by acquisition and our commitment to foster organic growth throughout Azelis.”Barry has worked for Elementis in senior sales and business management roles since 1995. He is married with two children and lives in Darlington in the north east of the UK. He will take up his new post with Azelis on 24th April 2006.EndsFor further information contact Dianne Nott tel. +44 (0) 1925 267557
